Technology

Pierce/ Cooley Architects, Inc. utilizes state of the art technology for all of its projects.

P/CA communicates, seamlessly, with its Clients and all members of the design team, no matter their location, via telephone, email, PDA, satellite and wireless technologies. PCA’s own .ftp site provides for immediate transfer of large electronic documents and files to any global location. These technologies allow P/CA to align itself with Clients, Consultants and Projects outside of its immediate physical locale. Essentially, P/CA’s office travels with its Staff when on-site.

P/CA regularly maintains and upgrades to current software versions. As a result, P/CA is able to accommodate a variety of system and file formats. The primary applications utilized on P/Ca’s projects are:

  • AutoCAD and Revit (BIM) are used for construction documentation;
  • Sketchup, 3D Studio Max and Adobe Photoshop are used for design studies and presentations;
  • Microsoft Office is used for word and data processing;
  • Microsoft Project for project scheduling.

Design Philosophy

Pierce/ Cooley Architects, Inc. approaches every project as a unique opportunity to create buildings and environments that meet the needs of its Clients, improve the quality of the communities in which they are located, function for the Occupants and User’s and that create places that people enjoy. P/CA limits itself to no set design style and believes that its projects should enhance or set the standard for the fabric of the communities they are within.

P/CA believes that quality design, response to the environmental elements that affect a structure’s design and efficient programming contribute to the longevity of any built project.  An entire design team that is focused on the overall environmental performance of our projects will provide its Clients with the most responsible application of their construction budget dollars. P/CA’s design approach accounts for:

  • Analysis of location and environment
  • Analysis of the buildings desired functional performance
  • Analysis of the project budget
  • The building’s mass, form and orientation
  • An evaluation of applicable structural, mechanical and electrical systems, and the selection building materials that contribute to time-tested performance
